Young agents embrace Extension’s bright future
For Extension agents, education is more than the exchange of information. It’s personal. It is a connection to their students and a sense of responsibility for the outcomes. “We’ve always been about delivering knowledge that people need in their everyday lives,” said Kimberly Gowdy, Extension family and consumer sciences agent in Harrison County. “There is still a critical need in our community for general education on every facet of life, from child development to community sustainability.”
Temporary closure to Bell Island for vehicles
Bell Island -- which includes Tracy Drive, Walker Road and a section of Lee Boulevard -- remains closed to vehicles because of an infrastructure improvement project related to construction of the new classroom building on campus. This closure is expected to remain in place through Wednesday.
Friday deadline for leadership program nominations
In the upcoming 2014-2015 academic year, the Office of Research and Economic Development and the Office of the Provost and Executive Vice President at Mississippi State will again be conducting an Academic Leadership Orientation Program for selected faculty. Nominations for the program are due by Friday.
Haggard to kick off 2014-15 Lyceum Series
Mississippi State's Lyceum Series will welcome patrons home to the newly renovated historic Lee Hall by kicking off the 2014-15 season with a performance by legendary country artist Merle Haggard on Aug. 20. Taking place throughout the fall and spring semesters, the season also features a variety of other performances. The full season line-up and ticket information will be released June 9 at www.lyceum.msstate.edu.

With political campaigning underway this year, Mississippi State's Office of General Counsel reminds employees to be aware of the university's policy on political activities. There are several basic guidelines that university employees should keep in mind when engaging in any form of political activity.
'Summer Fun' memberships available at Sanderson
Join in the summer fun at the Joe Frank Sanderson Center at Mississippi State University with a special Summer Fun membership now available for all faculty and staff. Summer Fun memberships for adults are $100 per person and $30 for each child, and are effective May 19 to Sept. 1.
