Flu shot clinics underway with two this week
University Health Services has scheduled a series of flu shot clinics this fall, and the next one will be held Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the atrium of McCool Hall. In order to keep our campus healthy, everyone is urged to get a flu shot.
Komen breast cancer exhibit here Wednesday
As part of the university's observance of national breast cancer awareness month, Mississippi State will be host to a well-known traveling exhibit on Wednesday. The distinctive pink "Komen on the Go" interactive mobile display will be located 9 a.m.-2 p.m. in front of the Colvard Student Union.
Monday deadline for ORED cross-college grants
The Office of Research and Economic Development is again soliciting proposals from Mississippi State faculty who desire to create cross-college research groups on campus. The grants are intended to facilitate interdisciplinary interaction between faculty and students that have a common research theme. The deadline to submit a proposal is Monday.
Two Research Seminar Series sessions on tap
The Office of Research and Economic Development will host two free seminars for Mississippi State faculty and staff this week. Throughout the academic year, ORED offers these learning opportunities designed to assist faculty and staff with conducting research and securing funding.
Cyber Security Awareness Week set Oct. 17-21
Online vigilance never ends in a wired and wireless world of 24/7 connectivity. For one week each fall at Mississippi State, technology security comes into an especially sharp focus. University students, faculty and staff will take part Oct. 17-21 in Cyber Security Awareness Week.
Bully's 5K for United Way race coming up Oct. 22
The Golden Triangle community is invited to help support Mississippi State's local needs campaign by running or walking the 2011 Bully's 5K for United Way. Proceeds from the Oct. 22 run go to the annual campus United Way campaign
FBI biosecurity workshop on campus next week
Biosecurity and safety will be examined in detail next week during a free workshop at Mississippi State. Experts from the FBI will be at the university Oct. 18 to share information and provide training for researchers, faculty, staff and students, as well as law enforcement officers. Area first responders, health care providers and biotech company employees also are invited to participate.
Three-peat: Phi Kappa Phi chapter at MSU honored
The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi recently recognized the campus chapter at Mississippi State University as a Chapter of Excellence. The award is given to chapters that excel in recognizing and promoting academic excellence in all fields of higher education and engaging the community of scholars in service to others.
Theatre MSU announces 2011-12 season lineup
The Mississippi State University Department of Communication has announced its 2011-12 Theatre MSU season lineup, which includes seven productions throughout the fall and spring semesters.
Employees can sign up for Heart Health Symposium
Mississippi State employees are invited to learn more about living a heart-healthy lifestyle at the 2011 Heart Health Education Symposium, which will be held on campus Oct. 27, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., in the Foster Ballroom of Colvard Student Union. The free symposium includes lunch.
Benefits open enrollment through Oct. 25
Benefits open enrollment for eligible Mississippi State employees will be held Oct. 1-25, according to Human Resources Management. Open enrollment changes include adding new coverage, changing existing coverage or canceling coverage. The changes become effective Jan. 1, 2012.
Eudora Welty exhibit on display at MSU Libraries
"Eudora Welty: Mississippi Daughter," an exhibit in conjunction with Mississippi State University's Maroon Edition, is on display on Mitchell Memorial Library's 2nd and 3rd floors through December 2011 and highlights the literary career of Mississippi's much-honored author.
In time for the holidays: Jack Cristil's biography
Orders are now being accepted for the biography of Mississippi State's legendary sports broadcaster. "Jack Cristil: The Voice of the Bulldogs" is written by university alumnus and veteran newsman Sid Salter. Best-selling author and fellow alumnus John Grisham is providing the book's foreword.
