Fourth-annual Maroon Edition kicks off Monday

The fourth-annual Maroon Edition common reading program at Mississippi State will be launched Monday, April 9 with a brief program to begin at 2 p.m. in the John Grisham Room of Mitchell Memorial Library.

University President Mark E. Keenum will announce the 2012 book selection. Free copies of the book will be given to the first 50 individuals registering. Door prizes also will be awarded.

While designed to encourage all incoming freshmen to share a common experience, the program traditionally has invited all members of the university family to take part in the reading and related service activities.

Grisham's "The Painted House" was the first Maroon Edition selection in 2009, with Greg Mortenson's "Three Cups of Tea" in 2010 and Eudora Welty's "The Optimist's Daughter" last year.
