Education forum showcases research
"In Pursuit of External Funding: Lessons Learned" is the theme for the fifth-annual College of Education's faculty and student research forum to be held March 30 at Mississippi State.
Though not a public event, the university forum is open to news media members interested in covering the activities.
Martha Kanter, under secretary for the U.S. Department of Education, will deliver a keynote address at 9 a.m. in the Bost Extension theater. "Affordability, Quality and Completion for an America Built to Last" is the title of her presentation.
The university's College of Education and Office of the Vice President for Research and Economic Development are sponsors of the showcase for faculty, staff and student research programs and projects.
"The forum provides an environment that promotes discussion and fosters collaboration with other colleges on campus," said J. Elton Moore, associate dean for research in the College of Education.
In addition to the keynote address, other activities will include:
--A panel presentation on tips for winning grants;
--A "speed meeting" for researchers in the college to interact with each other; and
--Display presentations by faculty and students in the college, with awards and cash prizes given for the best graduate and undergraduate entries.
