Zac Brown Band performing on campus in April
The Zac Brown Band, a four-time 2010 Grammy Award nominee, will perform April 14 at a Mississippi State concert in the university amphitheater.
"This is the biggest act we've seen on campus in at least 10 years," said Jackie Mullen, assistant director for the Colvard Student Union and Campus Activities Board. "Zac said he is looking forward to being in Starkville again, having played at Rick's Cafe before making it big."
All tickets go on sale this Friday, at 9 a.m., in the Bryan Athletic Ticket Office.
Only 1,000 of the $29.50 discounted student tickets will be available on a first-come basis at the Bryan Athletic Ticket Office. Students ID cards must be presented, with only one discount ticket per card. Students may bring a second ID for a maximum of two tickets.
Also, 1,000 VIP tickets will be available at $49.50 each, with seating directly in front of the outdoor stage. Other general admission tickets are priced at $39.50.
Purchases may be made at the Bryan Athletic Ticket Office or online at www.msuconcerts.com.
Named "Best New Artist" during the 2009 Grammy and Country Music award ceremonies, the Zac Brown Band no longer is considered a breakout group to the national scene. The group's latest studio album, "You Get What You Give," debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 Chart at its September release.
The band's major-label debut album, "The Foundation," was included in Billboard's 2009 Top 20 albums, and was the first of its kind in 18 years to yield five No. 1 hits, including "Free" and "Chicken Fried."
"On the Saturday after the Thursday performance here, the band will be featured at Cowboy Stadium in Dallas with Kenny Chesney," Mullen added.
The six-man group recently has appeared on the Conan O'Brien, David Letterman and Jimmy Kimmel late-night television shows.
