Campus celebrates Arbor Day Friday
Mississippi State celebrates Arbor Day this Friday with a morning of activities. The university will be planting this month instead of the nationally-observed month of April because planting conditions for trees are better now.
Friday's lineup includes:
9 a.m. -- Vice President for Agriculture, Forestry and Veterinary Medicine Greg Bohach will give a brief speech to begin the celebration, and a dedication tree will be planted to kick off the event.
9:30 a.m. -- Workshop led by Paul Meints, a Department of Plant and Soil Sciences instructor, will provide examples on how to properly plant and care for trees and plants.
10 a.m. -- Tree planting will take place at designated locations around campus.
Noon -- Celebration will end with cake, cookies and hot chocolate in front of the Lloyd-Ricks-Watson Building.
The entire campus community is invited to come out and join in beautifying the campus with trees. Contact Jessica Tucker at jlt396@msstate.edu for more information.
