Participants in the 2011 Education for Administrative Support Employees (EASE) sessions took advantage of the opportunity to boost their knowledge during the 12-week training program, which is designed to provide new administrative support staff with the tools to perform their jobs effectively.
At the beginning of the program in late September, the EASE class was given a surprise pre-test during their first meeting to benchmark their level of knowledge. The pre-test scores averaged 53%. At the conclusion of the training sessions, they took a second test to assess progress and knowledge gain, and the scores averaged 82%. The improved test scores indicate that the participants gained knowledge and learned new skills during the EASE Program.
Session topics included basic department internal controls, business writing skills, communication skills, conflict resolution, diversity, information security, professional image, purchasing, time management, travel, and the employment process.
The 2011 EASE graduates are:
Alisa Baker, administrative assistant I, Holmes Cultural Diversity Center
