Zimmerman joins engineering fundraising staff
Starkville native Paul S. Zimmerman is a new fundraiser for Mississippi State's James Worth Bagley College of Engineering.
The Oktibbeha County resident began his official duties in the college earlier this month as an assistant director of development. He is a 2000 MSU business administration graduate who previously worked in sales for 13 years at Flexsteel Industries.
"We are pleased to welcome Paul Zimmerman to our fundraising staff," said Jack McCarty, the MSU Foundation's executive director of development. "His proven track record in the sales industry, coupled with a deep appreciation of Mississippi State, will serve him immensely as he works with constituents on behalf of the university."
Zimmerman is joining the team of Bennett Evans, the college's development director, and fellow assistant director P.K. Thomas.
One of MSU's two oldest academic programs, the Bagley College enrolls more than 3,000 undergraduate and graduate majors. One of some 20 named U.S. engineering colleges, it is listed in the top 10 percent for overall engineering research expenditures--a rank above most other Southeastern Conference schools.
Fundraising efforts at Mississippi State University continue to center around "StatePride: An Initiative for Student and Faculty Support." To date, more than $66 million has been raised toward a $100 million goal.
The multi-year initiative focuses on securing gifts for student scholarships, and endowed faculty positions in the form of chairs and professorships.
