Public information units win big in competition
Three Mississippi State public information departments are winners of 30 major 2011 awards given by the College Public Relations Association of Mississippi.
The Office of University Relations brought home the Grand Award in Print Media, the highest honor given, for the photograph "Respect the Bell." The university's Office of Agricultural Communications and Bagley College of Engineering won numerous first, second and third place certificates.
The three units also swept the sports story, annual report and photography categories.
The departments are among those competing annually in the senior college division of the awards program that includes the state's public and private senior colleges and universities.
Since its formation in the 1970s, CPRAM has worked to advance the art of communication to provide the public with a better understanding and appreciation of member institutions. Community colleges and state governmental agencies also are active participants.
