Library speaker series features MEC president

Mississippi State's Morris W.H. "Bill" Collins Speaker Series continues Monday [Nov. 18] with an address by Blake A. Wilson, president and chief executive officer of the Mississippi Economic Council.
Free and open to all, the 3 p.m. university event takes place in Mitchell Memorial Library's John Grisham Room.
The MEC serves as a statewide chamber of commerce. During the past 16 years, the organization has more than doubled the number of paid membership accounts, tripled operating revenues and increased by seven times member participation from dues-paying companies.
Wilson began his career with the Delaware Chamber of Commerce, where he worked for nearly 10 years. He then spent three years as executive director of the Associated Builders and Contractors, Delaware Chapter, and five years at the Florida Chamber of Commerce.
He also is a former newspaper reporter and editor, having worked for newspapers in Delaware, Maryland and Pennsylvania.
The Collins Speaker Series is co-sponsored by MSU Libraries and Mitchell Memorial's Congressional and Political Research Center, along with the John C. Stennis Institute of Government and Community Development, the Stennis Montgomery Association student organization and the Stennis Center for Public Service Leadership.
A memorial to the Stennis Institute's first executive director Bill Collins, the speaker series regularly brings to campus leading figures from government, business and other fields for close, personal discussions about their lives and careers.
