Indiana University prof next speaker in series
Aurelian Craiutu
Political science professor Aurelian Craiutu is the next speaker in Mississippi State's Institute for the Humanities Distinguished Lecture Series.
His Wednesday, Nov. 14 presentation in the McCool Hall Atrium will be titled "In Praise of a Forgotten Virtue: Moderation in the Twenty-First Century." Open to all, the event will begin at 4 p.m., followed by a reception and book signing.
A professor at Indiana University, Craiutu teaches political theory and history of political thought. His most recent book, "A Virtue for Courageous Minds: Moderation in French Political Thought, 1748-1830," was published this year by Princeton University Press and has drawn notice in the New York Times.
Educated in Romania and France, Craiutu earned his doctorate in politics from Princeton University in 1999.
MSU's Distinguished Lecture Series is sponsored by the College of Arts and Sciences, the offices of Research and Economic Development and the Provost. The program regularly features scholars, writers and artists from around the world.
