Dr. Seuss' The Cat in the Hat brings his tricks to MSU Riley Center
“Dr. Seuss’ The Cat in the Hat” will visit the MSU Riley Center for a family show on March 3 at 7 p.m. You know what that means: mischief and mayhem to delight every child in the audience -- regardless of age.
The imaginative artist and clever wordsmith known as Dr. Seuss published the book “The Cat in the Hat” in 1957. Ever since, the antics of the mysterious cat who drops in to enliven a rainy day for two children and nearly destroys their house in the process have captivated kids. In this faithful retelling, the Childsplay children’s theater company of Tempe, Arizona, uses the book’s original rhyming couplets (which most adults probably already know by heart).
Anyone age 3 or older will enjoy the chaos caused by the cat and his manic helpers, Thing One and Thing Two. Can the cat repair the damage before the children’s mother comes home? Adults will know, children will find out, and all will wind up with a smile.
Tickets are $20 for adults and $12 for students at the MSU Riley Center Box Office, which is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Tickets can be purchased online at www.msurileycenter.com or by calling the box office at 601-696-2200.
