Exhibit showcases Mississippi Craftsmen's Guild through Friday
The Colvard Student Union Art Gallery at Mississippi State announces the opening of "I am a Craftsman: Historical Perspective of the Mississippi Craftsmen's Guild."
The university exhibit runs through Aug. 26, with a 4-6 p.m. public reception scheduled Aug. 22 at the second-floor location. Light refreshments will be served.
The Craftsmen's Guild of Mississippi is a non-profit organization that works to preserve crafts of the state and region. Since its founding in 1973, the organization has grown from a membership of 30 to more than 400 professional artisans from across the U.S.
The guild's Mississippi Craft Center is located just off the historic Natchez Trace Parkway on Rice Road in Ridgeland.
The Colvard gallery is open Monday--Friday, 8 a.m.--10 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays, 10 a.m.--10 p.m. It regularly features traveling exhibits, student shows, group and solo exhibitions by professional artists, and special events, among others.
