Barnes & Noble adjusts hours for spring break
The Barnes & Noble at Mississippi State has adjusted its hours for the university's spring break this week. Through March 14, the store will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. It will be closed for inventory on March 15.

Changes coming to Sanderson Center this week
Big changes are coming to Mississippi State’s Sanderson Center this week as it updates the software that manages facility access, memberships, equipment inventory and product sales. This new system is going live on Monday, according to officials. In order to train staff on the new software, Sanderson will be closed on Monday, and then reopen for regular operations at 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

Moe's added to campus dining lineup for fall
The State Fountain Bakery at Mississippi State soon will be relocated next door in the Colvard Student Union. Moe's Southwest Grill is scheduled to open by the fall semester's August student move-in day. Bill Broyles, interim student affairs vice president, said MSU students have been rallying to bring Moe's to campus for the past three years.

'Safety stand-down' deadline for labs nears
In a continuing effort to meet best practices at Mississippi State, the university's Office of Research and Economic Development and the Division of Agriculture, Forestry and Veterinary Medicine are requiring all principal investigators who conduct research at Biosafety Level 2 to participate in a phased plan in support of a federal "safety stand-down." The deadline is March 13.

Tobacco Use Attestation Form completion required
Human Resources Management at Mississippi State reminds all benefits-eligible employees that the Mississippi Department of Finance and Administration's board voted recently to implement a $50 per month tobacco use surcharge, effective July 2015, for the State and School Employees' Health Insurance Plan. All plan participants are now required to complete a "Tobacco Use Attestation Form."

Softball hosts Lipscomb at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, and then visits Birmingham on Wednesday for a 6 p.m. game with Samford before hosting Texas A&M at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, 1 p.m. on Saturday, and 1 p.m. on Sunday... Baseball hosts Western Kentucky on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. and on Wednesday at 5 p.m. before hosting Alabama for an SEC weekend series with games at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, 2 p.m. on Saturday, and 1:30 p.m. on Sunday... Men's Basketball opens play in the SEC Tournament in Nashville on Wednesday... Track & Field begins competition at the NCAA Championships at Fayetteville on Thursday... Men's Tennis is on the road to Gainesville for a Friday match against Florida at 4 p.m. and visits Auburn on Sunday for a 1 p.m. match against the Tigers... Schaefer earns SEC, national honors
Following a historic regular season, the Mississippi State women’s basketball team piled up the SEC honors from league coaches last week. Head coach Vic Schaefer was named SEC Co-Coach of the Year as well as a one of 10 semifinalists for Naismith National Coach of the Year.
Laird elected CASE District III treasurer
Harriet Laird, associate director in the Office of Public Affairs at Mississippi State, has been elected treasurer for the Council for Advancement and Support of Education’s District III for 2015-17. CASE III is one of eight districts in North America, with each district having a volunteer board of directors to oversee operations, programming and services for members in that region.
DAFVM Spotlight Employee: Susan Heath
The College of Veterinary Medicine can rely on Susan Heath to help students manage their affairs. Heath builds schedules for veterinary students in Phase I and Phase II of the curriculum, and she helps students navigate the financial aid process. She aids faculty in the course and rotation evaluation process and is responsible for the Academic and Student Affairs budgets.
DAFVM Spotlight Employee: Chris McGinnis
Chris McGinnis makes sure that the Department of Sustainable Bioproducts in the Forest and Wildlife Research Center is always well maintained. McGinnis maintains the 10-acre complex that includes 18 buildings. He looks after the grounds and does whatever is necessary to keep the buildings in good repair.
