McCarty named executive director of development
A veteran fundraiser and campus staff member is the Mississippi State University Foundation's new executive director of development. Jack R. McCarty of Starkville officially begins his duties May 15.
Forecasting team captures third national title
A third consecutive win in a forecasting competition is another feather in the cap for Mississippi State's nationally recognized meteorology program. The nine-person team, including three faculty members, placed first in the 2010-11 Wx Challenge.
Faculty honored for research, productivity
Three faculty members in MSU's Mississippi Agricultural and Forestry Experiment Station were recently recognized for outstanding publications and productivity.
Leed honored with teaching excellence awards
Ann Leed, an instructor in animal and dairy sciences, recently was honored with the Upper Division Excellence in Teaching award and the Overall Excellence in Teaching award.
CALS honors Petrolia with teaching award
Daniel Petrolia, assistant professor in agricultural economics, received the Lower Division Excellence in Teaching Award from the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
Musical ambassadors set for European tour
The Wind Ensemble of Mississippi State University departed campus Sunday for a two-week performance tour in Germany and Austria. The 44-member instrumental group is led by Elva Kaye Lance, director of bands.
Auto manufacturers support Japan relief effort
The Mississippi Automotive Manufacturers Association recently donated $5,000 for disaster relief to the Japan-America Society of Mississippi. The ceremony was held at Mississippi State University's Center for Advanced Vehicular Systems Extension office in Canton.

Baseball hosts Mississippi Valley State Tuesday at 6:30 p.m., and then travels to Oxford Thursday to begin a three-game SEC series with Ole Miss... Softball opens play in the SEC tournament in Oxford on Thursday... Track & Field is on the road to Athens Thursday through Sunday for the SEC Championships. Men's Tennis opens play in the first round of the NCAA Championship at 9 a.m. Friday with a match against Florida State in Atlanta.
