Hudson's addition completes Lady Bulldog staff

Mississippi State head coach Vic Schaefer completed his Lady Bulldog coaching staff with the addition of Brittany Hudson as assistant coach.
Hudson joins associate head coach Johnnie Harris, assistant coach Aqua Franklin and director of operations Maryann Baker in filling the Lady Bulldogs' Mize Pavilion office suite.
"I am elated to be joining the tremendous staff here at Mississippi State. This is a great opportunity, and I look forward to being a part of what Coach Schaefer is going to build here," Hudson said. "I also look forward to helping the young women in our program progress not only to be great athletes, but also great individuals off the court. I am excited about the opportunity to work with Coach Schaefer and the rest of the staff, and I am looking forward to being part of a first-class program."
The Daytona Beach, Fla., native becomes the newest addition to the Mississippi State family after serving as assistant coach for her hometown Daytona State College.
During her young career, Hudson has gained experience at various levels of the sport. Prior to her season at DSC, Hudson spent a year as director of operations at Morehead State, coordinating travel as well as game-day management and other areas of the program.
"As I went through the process of compiling a staff, I wanted coaches who bring something different to the table. Brittany adds another dimension to our program, and my staff and I were very impressed with what she will add to Mississippi State women's basketball," Schaefer said. "I like the enthusiasm she brings, and her youth will serve our staff well. Brittany has a great work ethic and an excitement about becoming a Mississippi State Bulldog."
Her Division I experience came on the heels of a six-year stint at the AAU level coaching with the prestigious Essence girls basketball program. In addition to coaching the talented players in the program, she also arranged travel and served as site director for numerous tournaments.
Hudson earned a political science degree with a concentration in pre-law while playing for Georgia State University. As a freshman, she helped lead the Panthers to the Atlantic Sun Conference championship game prior to the program joining the Colonial Athletic Association.
During her GSU career, she scored 215 points and averaged nearly three rebounds in 70 games.
Hudson played her final college season at Valdosta State, averaging 11.4 points and nine rebounds per game. During that campaign she earned second team All-Gulf South Conference accolades and helped guide the Lady Blazers to the NCAA Division II South Regional.
Hudson prepped one season at Mainland High School before finishing her high school career at Florida A&M University High School, where she led her team to the school's first state championship.
