DAFVM Spotlight Employee: Mikayla Prisock

Mikayla Prisock

Mikayla Prisock

Project Coordinator
Extension Agricultural Communications
Years in Position: 1.5
Years of Service to MSU: 3.5

For Mikayla Prisock, the Mississippi State University Extension Service is more than just a job -- it’s the backbone of the communities. From her early days participating in 4-H programs like shooting sports, “Kids in the Kitchen,” and serving as a state officer, to her current role as Project Coordinator for Agricultural Communications, MSU Extension has been a constant presence in her life.

“I love people and agriculture, and that’s why I’m so passionate about this job. It gives me the opportunity to engage with both internal and external audiences about the important work we do,” Prisock said.

In her role, Prisock serves as a liaison between Extension specialists and the communities they serve. When new, research-based information is available, she coordinates the creation of materials that help disseminate that knowledge to producers, industries, communities and individuals.

“Helping others navigate their needs and drive their success is one of the most rewarding aspects of my job,” she said.

Prisock’s passion for agriculture was cultivated early on, thanks to her involvement in Future Farmers of America (FFA) and 4-H. These formative experiences not only shaped her career path but also played a pivotal role in her personal life -- she met her husband through 4-H. After earning her degree in agricultural science from Mississippi State University, she worked in the poultry science department before joining the agricultural communications team.

One of Prisock’s most cherished memories came during the 2024 Extension Annual Conference where she had the chance to meet face-to-face with colleagues she had worked with virtually across the state.

“It was incredibly rewarding to be surrounded by people who are just as passionate, dedicated and driven to uphold the Extension mission,” she said.

But the conference is just one of many sources of inspiration in her work. Prisock is quick to highlight the support and camaraderie she finds within her team.

“The team I work with is unmatched. It truly makes a difference when you love both your job and the people you work with.”
