Mississippi State University hosts professionals from the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) this week for discussions with students and employees on research collaborations, internships and employment, as well as keynote presentations by university and ERDC leaders.

This marks the third annual “ERDC Days” hosted by Mississippi State. ERDC personnel will spend Tuesday [Oct. 29] touring MSU research facilities. MSU students, faculty and staff are encouraged to attend a series of casual and formal programs on Wednesday [Oct. 30] to learn more about ERDC, which is headquartered in Vicksburg.

A longtime MSU research partner, ERDC helps solve our nation’s most challenging problems in civil and military engineering, geospatial sciences, water resources, and environmental sciences for the Army, Department of Defense, civilian agencies, and our nation’s public good.

ERDC will host listening sessions on Oct. 30 in the Colvard Student Union’s Fowlkes Auditorium will highlights key research areas for ERDC and provide insight on employment and research collaboration opportunities.

In addition to the presentations, representatives from ERDC’s research labs will be available for small group and individual meetings on Oct. 30. MSU faculty members with ongoing research that applies to ERDC focus areas are invited to connect with peers from the agency. This come-and-go session will last from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. in the Colvard Student Union Ballroom.

Also in the Union’s Ballroom, MSU students are encouraged to stop by from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. to discuss job and internship opportunities with ERDC. The research center is one of the largest employers of MSU engineering graduates.

ERDC Days will conclude with keynote presentations at 2 p.m. in Lee Hall’s Bettersworth Auditorium, which highlight ongoing research collaborations between MSU and ERDC and include remarks from senior leadership of both organizations.

As one of the most diverse engineering and scientific research organizations in the world, ERDC conducts research and development in support of the soldier, military installations, and the Corps of Engineers' civil works mission, as well as for other federal agencies, state and municipal authorities, and with U.S. industries through innovative work agreements. ERDC operates more than $1 billion in world class facilities at seven labs located in four states with more than 2,600 employees to administer an annual research program exceeding $2 billion.
