Women’s History Month brings numerous programs to MSU throughout March

Mississippi State is commemorating Women’s History Month throughout March with a variety of events, including a Monday [March 4] visit from Emmy-nominated veteran FOX Sports reporter Erin Andrews.
The Q&A discussion featuring sportscaster Andrews is set for 6:30 p.m. in Lee Hall’s Bettersworth Auditorium. Hosted by the MSU Student Association, doors open for the free, Global Lecture Series event at 6 p.m. for students, employees and the public. Andrews will share the impact of college on her life, her experiences while working in the sports and entertainment industry, and overcoming obstacles along the way.
MSU hosts “Kick-off to Women’s History Month Celebration,” March 6, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Drill Field. This event will celebrate the rich history and accomplishments of women.

-- March 7, 3-5 p.m., “Loving Our Hair Art Exhibition and Reception,” Colvard Student Union Art Gallery. Visit this HCDC exhibition and reception for a celebration of the beauty of hair, self-identity and self-love.
-- March 7, 6 p.m., “Why Not Me? Panel Series: Women’s History Month,” Thompson Hall, Tully Auditorium. The College of Forest Resources hosts its female faculty members for a discussion and Q&A session focused on increasing awareness about natural resources professions and increasing representation among women within the professions. Refreshments provided afterwards.
-- March 18, 6 p.m., “Why Not Me? Speaker Series: Women’s History Month” featuring Beth Baker, an MSU Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Aquaculture associate extension professor. Thompson Hall, Tully Auditorium. Celebrating all women in the natural resources field, the College of Forest Resources hosts Baker for a discussion on her journey and contributions in this field.
-- March 20, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., “Painting with a Colleague,” Colvard Student Union, Foster Ballroom U. The Office of Inclusive Excellence invites participants to paint with a colleague or friend, foster relationship building and encourage work-life integration at this event for MSU faculty, staff and students. -- March 21, 2-3 p.m., “The Artistic Alchemist: A Woman’s Tale of Transforming Challenges into Creativity with Shayne L. Townson,” Colvard Student Union, Dawg House. The Department of Music hosts multifaceted artist Townson for a presentation and Q&A session exploring creativity through challenges.
-- March 25, 5:30-7 p.m., “Women Standing on Business,” Mitchell Memorial Library, John Grisham Room. Join the Office of Access and Success for an inspiring panel session with women sharing their stories of perseverance and success that led to their academic, professional and personal greatness. Refreshments will be available at 5:30 p.m., and the panel will begin at 6 p.m.
