Cole Etheredge, an assistant professor in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, was recognized by the American Society for Horticultural Science (ASHS). Etheredge received the ASHS Professional Early Career Award, which recognizes ASHS members for outstanding contributions to horticultural science through their professional activities within seven years of completing their degrees.
He also received the Education Publication Award, which recognizes the author of the outstanding paper on horticultural education, published in the previous year's issues of The Journal of the American Society for Horticultural Science. That award was for his article “Comparative Analysis of Generation Z Era Students’ Overall Grades and Course Satisfaction of a Basic Floral Design Course Taught Fully Face-to-face versus an Online Hybrid Format.” His coauthor on the paper is Tina M. Waliczek Cade, professor of horticulture at Texas State University.
“It is a great honor to be recognized by my peers for my work in the field of horticulture and floriculture both in education and research,” Etheredge said.
As an assistant professor of floral management in the Department of Plant and Soil Sciences, Etheredge teaches courses including basic floral design, wedding floral design and interior plant design and maintenance. He also conducts research focusing on education and sustainable practices in the floral industry.
