Four faculty-led projects receiving funding for research to advance diversity and inclusion
Mississippi State’s Office of Research and Economic Development and the Division of Access, Diversity, and Inclusion are supporting four faculty-led research projects as part of an internal program that supports new research and creative activities that contribute to the understanding of racial equity. Research funded by the program is designed to identify, study or remediate factors that contribute to racism, bias or inequities.
Faculty members receiving funding through the program are:
-- Zaccheus Ahonle and Elaine Wei, assistant professor and associate professor in the Department of Counseling, Educational Psychology and Foundations, for “Employment Outcomes of Individuals with Cognitive Disabilities.”
-- Rachel Allison, associate professor in the Department of Sociology, for “COVID-19 and Young Adulthood: Racial Inequalities Among the Non-College-Attending in Mississippi.”
-- Qiana Cutts, assistant professor in the Department of Counseling, Educational Psychology and Foundations, for “Pulling In: An Examination of the Influence of State-Level Policies on Recruitment and Retention of Black Teacher Candidates in Mississippi.”
-- Sumedha Therthani, assistant professor in the Department of Counseling, Educational Psychology and Foundations, for “An Assessment of Campus Climate, Satisfaction with College, and Intention to Persist among LGBTQ+ and non-LGBTQ+ College Students at MSU.”
