RCU's Tedder selected for ASCD Emerging Leaders Program
Ginger Tedder
Mississippi State University Research and Curriculum Unit (RCU) Project Manager Ginger Tedder was recently selected to participate in the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD) Emerging Leaders Program.
Tedder, who joined the RCU in 2020, was one of 24 people selected for the Class of 2021 out of 125 applicants. The cohort includes educators from 12 states, the United Kingdom, Singapore and India.
“Leadership is a journey of lifelong learning. I am excited for this opportunity to learn from and grow with these amazing educators, and I look forward to representing the many accomplished Mississippi educators who have been my friends, colleagues and mentors through the years,” Tedder said.
Participants have made impacts in their schools and communities. The program provides the cohort with networking opportunities and preparation for future leadership roles.
Tedder directs New Teacher Induction, a research-based program that provides intensive, specialized professional development for new career and technical education teachers during their first year in the classroom, and helps implement and support RCU and Mississippi Department of Education (MDE) innovative school initiatives throughout the state.
Tedder has 23 years of pre-K-12 experience in instruction, teacher leadership and administration. In addition to ASCD, she is active with the Federal Reserve Advisory Board and Teach to Lead Network and building the Mississippi Teacher Leadership Network with the Mississippi State Teachers of the Year chapter.
In 2016, the MDE recognized her as the state’s 3rd Congressional District Teacher of the Year and Teacher of the Year First Alternate.
Founded in 1965, the RCU contributes to MSU’s mission as a land-grant institution to better the lives of Mississippians with a focus on improving education. In particular, the RCU benefits K-12 and higher education by developing curricula and assessments, providing training and learning opportunities for educators, researching and evaluating programs, supporting and promoting career and technical education, and leading education innovations.
