Regina Young Hyatt, Mississippi State University’s vice president for student affairs, has been elected to the Woodward Hines Education Foundation’s board of directors.

For more than 25 years, endowed Jackson-based nonprofit WHEF has worked to promote and increase postsecondary access among underrepresented young Mississippians, and more recently, has expanded its mission to support increased credential and degree completion leading to meaningful employment.

“I feel particularly compelled by WHEF’s mission as I recognize the tremendous impact a college degree makes in a person’s life and the lives of their families, our communities and our state,” Hyatt said. “There is strong alignment with Mississippi State’s institutional goals for student success and the outcomes WHEF seeks to achieve for all Mississippians and colleges/universities in our state. I look forward to helping WHEF advance strategies that lead to access and more resources for Mississippi citizens to achieve their higher education goals.”

As MSU’s first female vice president for student affairs, Hyatt provides executive-level leadership and vision for the university’s Division of Student Affairs. The division is comprised of 21 departments focusing on student life and engagement; student health, safety and wellness; student support programs; and student success.

Hyatt has served as chairperson of the National Association for Campus Activities’ board of directors and held leadership positions with the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators. She completed doctoral work in higher education administration at the University of South Florida.
