Nominations sought for 2021-22 SECU Academic Leadership Development Program
Mississippi State is seeking nominations for up to four SECU Academic Leadership Development Program Fellows from among the university's tenured faculty (full professor).
The SECU Academic Leadership Development Program equips fellows with knowledge and skills for leading faculty and academic programs, as well as managerial and organizational skills required to lead complex organizations.
The nominees should be individuals who have made progress toward or expressed a strong interest in leadership roles on or off-campus or who may currently be in a administrative position (e.g., Department Head, Associate Dean). ALDP Fellows are expected to:
-- Attend two ALDP workshops (mandatory). The first workshop will be held October 17-20, 2021, at the University of Georgia, and the second will be held at the University of South Carolina in 2022 (dates pending).
-- Prepare in advance for workshops by reading provided materials, etc.
-- Serve as mentors to 2022-2023 MSU ALDP Fellows.
Costs associated with workshop attendance for MSU's ALDP Fellows will be covered by the Office of the Provost and Executive Vice President. MSU's ALDP liaison officer and Executive Vice Provost Peter Ryan will accompany ALDP Fellows to the workshops.
Nominations should be submitted to the Office of the Provost and Executive Vice President by 5 p.m. June 4 and must include a statement by nominees regarding their interest in university leadership. Nominees also must submit an abbreviated biographical sketch and support letters from both their department head and college dean.
