DAFVM Spotlight Employee: Ronnae Redmond
Ronnae Redmond
As a 4-H agent in Warren County, Ronnae Redmond plans programs for the young people in her community. Klub 4 Kids is one of the programs she really enjoys.
“The pandemic has affected my ability to see the kids, but we are able to navigate and stay connected to the 4-H’ers through zoom meetings, social media and emails,” she said.
Even though she did not grow up a 4-H’er, she appreciates the experience she gets working with the program now. She feels it is important for kids to help participate in community service projects because it helps connect them to the community and learn by giving back and assisting others.
“My favorite part of this job is helping others,” Ronnae said. “I especially enjoy when we take trips to deliver new quilts made by our 4-H’ers to the nursing homes in the community. We are fortunate enough to make thirty per year.”
Ronnae strives to help people understand more about Extension, the services available to the public, and how Extension helps connect people with the information they need. One of the most popular Extension programs in Warren County is the Master Gardeners program.
She advocates for Extension by telling people that it is a great career path, especially for those who want to learn and explore. She says that it is a special and unique career because of how it can provide people with research-based information for almost any situation.
“The most important traits required to be successful in this career are honesty, respectability, and a willingness to help,” she said. “These are important because I need to have an understanding for the job expectations, which includes being honest with self and clients. Most of all, I want to have a willing nature to provide the correct information to help others.”
