MSU Extension Service welcomes Madkin as new nutrition instructor

Qula Madkin recently joined the Mississippi State University Extension Service as a nutrition instructor.
In this position, Madkin directs Extension’s statewide nutrition programs and assists with development, coordination and distribution of program materials related to nutrition and food safety. She also provides training and technical assistance to all Extension agents with nutrition education responsibilities.
“I am passionate about helping educate people about nutrition and health and helping them change their lives with that knowledge,” she said. “I love to find creative ways to teach Mississippians how to make positive life changes that improve their health, starting with the traditional Southern diet.”
Madkin earned a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in nutrition from MSU and has more than 17 years of experience working with health, wellness promotion and nutrition coordination in community, private and academic settings. She is a registered and licensed dietitian and a certified diabetes care and education specialist. She also completed training in the Commission on Dietetics’ Adult Weight Management Program.
Madkin is located at the Central Mississippi Research and Extension Center in Raymond.
