APPEAL: 4-H isn't all 'cows and cooking' any more
Nope, this isn't granddad's 4-H gathering.
Or Mom's either -- not with gears, wires and electronic components that six youths ages 8 to 17 were transforming into robotic guitars with programmable synthesized music.
"It ain't all 'cows and cooking' any more," said Tommie Rodgers of Hernando.
A former 4-H'er herself, now a volunteer parent, Rodgers was helping her home-schooled sons Nathan, 12, and Jonathan, 10, blast sound from their "Johnny Cashbot" Lego guitars at the Mississippi State University Extension office in Hernando
The community is getting the message that 4-H is more than about moo, said Dr. Joy Anderson, MSU Extension director for DeSoto.
