DAFVM Spotlight Employee: John Johnsey
John Johnsey
John Johnsey is from the Mississippi Gulf Coast and has been a Network Administrator for the Department of Agricultural Economics for 24 years.
“I came to MSU in 1985 as a student,” John said. “While working part time, I pursued a degree in Business Information Systems and graduated in the summer of 1996. I have worked for MSU ever since.”
John is responsible for maintaining equipment used in classrooms, conference rooms, and faculty offices in the Department of Agricultural Economics. He works with the Office of Information Technology Services on issues pertaining to internet security for the Lloyd Ricks Watson building. John is also the first contact and liaison for many services that the faculty and staff need from Extension.
“I love showing people how to use programs, navigate web sites, or perform repairs on computers,” John said. “I find it rewarding to work with people on any kind of technology project. The faculty and staff at the Department of Agricultural Economics are the friendliest and most helpful people I know. Their constant encouragement to others rejuvenates me and makes it a joy to be here every day."
John and his wife of 20 years, Kathy, have two daughters. Keriann, who has an associate degree in business, and Abigail who is pursuing her master’s degree in sociology, specializing in administration. In his spare time, John enjoys reading, playing trivia games, and restoring automobiles.
