Siegert named chief human resources officer
A veteran human resources manager from Johns Hopkins University is being named Mississippi State’s chief human resources officer.
Nancy L. Siegert will begin the MSU position Oct. 16, pending formal approval by the Board of Trustees, State Institutions of Higher Learning.
Siegert has served since 2016 as human resources manager for the Clinical Practice Association at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. She holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s in human resource development from Towson University in Maryland. Siegert has worked for the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine for 20 years, although she worked from 2014-2016 as associate vice president and Chief Human Resources Officer for Salisbury University, also in Maryland.
“We conducted a national search to fill this position and that search produced several outstanding candidates, but it was clear that Nancy had an outstanding depth of knowledge about the profession and significant relevant experience at a major national institution,” said MSU Provost and Executive Vice President David Shaw.
Siegert held earlier positions at Johns Hopkins including assistant director of human resources and human resources manager overseeing change management to ensure seamless acquisition of a private physicians group practice of 500. Previously, she served as employee/employer relations manager at Towson University.
A senior certified professional with the Society for Human Resource Management, Siegert also has completed the senior professional in human resources credential from the HR Certification Institute.
MSU’s more than 1,300 faculty and 3,300 staff members make the 141-year-old land-grant institution among the region’s largest employers. Positive feedback from MSU employees has helped designate the university as a “Great College to Work For” by The Chronicle of Higher Education since 2016. Siegert will lead the areas of domestic and international employment, compensation, benefits, employee relations, learning and development, and data services, as well as other university-wide human resources management support.
MSU is Mississippi’s leading university, available online at www.msstate.edu.
