Administrators complete new professional development program
Nearly a dozen Mississippi State administrators have completed an inaugural professional development program for university leaders.
The Administrator’s Development Program provides formal training and facilitates the development of professional relationships across the university. The curriculum includes basic human resources skills for administrators; strategic and creative thinking; fiscal operations; setting expectations; improving influence; developing teams; and performance management.
Darrell Easley, learning and development manager for MSU Human Resources Management, said it is critical to develop employees at every level.
“We set out to accomplish three things: First, for participants to learn; second, for them to build connections; and third, to provide input for future programs. Because of our outstanding facilitators and participants, we were able to accomplish all of these objectives,” Easley said.
Participants in the spring 2018 cohort were:
* Dei Allard, executive director of the Department of Housing and Residence Life;
* Ashli Brown-Johnson, state chemist and associate professor;
* Tim Chamblee, assistant vice president and director of the Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness;
* George Davis, assistant vice president for campus services;
* John Dickerson, assistant vice president for enrollment;
* Ra’Sheda Forbes, assistant vice president for multicultural affairs and director of the Holmes Cultural Diversity Center;
* Christine Jackson, associate athletic director and executive director for athletic academic support services;
* Julie Jordan, associate vice president for international programs and executive director of the International Institute;
* Steve Parrott, chief information officer;
* Sid Salter, chief communications officer and director of the Office of Public Affairs; and,
* Susan Seal, executive director of the Center for Distance Education.
