Communication hosts 11th annual golf tournament
It is tee time for golfers of all skill levels who can change the lives of Mississippi State students through participation in the Mississippi State Department of Communication’s annual golf tournament to raise funds for student scholarships.
Set for Friday [Oct. 13], registration and a putting contest take place from 10:30 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. at the MSU Golf Course, located on State Highway 182 East. The shotgun start is at noon, and prizes will be awarded for at least the top 10 teams, including four prizes for closest to the pin, five for longest drives, and one for the longest putt made on a selected hole. In addition, two holes provide chances with a hole-in-one to win a Jeep from Parker-McGill or $1,000 in Cutter and Buck merchandise from LogoStoreUSA.
Cost is $125 per player and included in registration are green fees, a cart, lunch, driving range balls, one putting contest entry, an MSU Adidas golf polo shirt and MSU logo towel, logo divot tool, logo golf ball, tees, among other items.
“We appreciate all of the support we have received and hope those who have participated in the past will play, sponsor, donate and/or volunteer for our 11th annual tournament,” said John Forde, professor and head of MSU’s Department of Communication. “Our Gold Sponsors so far this year are Coca-Cola, MaxxSouth Broadband and WCBI-TV. Once again, we have generous supporters providing food and drinks: Clark Beverage Group, The Little Dooey, Kroger and Aramark.
This tournament is a four-person scramble and has a 120-player limit. Players or sponsors can register online, and more information can be found at http://www.comm.msstate.edu/alumni/getinvolved or by contacting Forde at 662-312-5031 or jforde@comm.msstate.edu.
