MSU ranked best in state, among top 50 southern colleges in ‘Money’ rankings
Mississippi State University is ranked the best in Mississippi and is among the top 50 best colleges in the south in Money Magazine’s “Best Colleges for Your Money” 2017 rankings.
MSU came in at No. 48 in Money’s “Best Colleges in the South” rankings and was listed as the best college in Mississippi in Money’s ranking of the best colleges in every state. The rankings combine 27 data points that measure educational quality, affordability and alumni success for 2,400 colleges.
“With the steady enrollment growth we’ve seen recently, it’s clear our students and their families see tremendous value in an education from Mississippi State,” MSU President Mark E. Keenum said. “Tuition at Mississippi State is far lower than that of our peer research universities and among smaller regional institutions. Our students are getting a great bargain and taking advantage of a tremendous opportunity to earn a high-quality education at one of the nation’s premier research institutions. The value of that education is enhanced further by the fact that Mississippi State graduates earn, on average, the highest starting salaries of any other college graduates in the state.”
MSU provides access and opportunity to students from every area of Mississippi, all 50 states and from countries throughout the world. Enhancing its historic strengths in agriculture, natural resources, engineering, mathematics, and natural and physical sciences, MSU offers a comprehensive range of undergraduate and graduate programs. These include architecture, the fine arts, business, education, the humanities, the social and behavioral sciences, and veterinary medicine.
Building on its land-grant tradition, MSU strategically extends its resources and expertise throughout the state for the benefit of Mississippi’s citizens, offering access for adult learners through its Meridian campus, Extension Service and distance learning programs. MSU is among the National Science Foundation’s Top 100 research universities, and ranks in the Top 10 nationally in agriculture-related research, a position it has held for nearly two decades.
MSU placed in the top half of Money’s national “Best Colleges” overall rankings at No. 344.
