Bagley College of Engineering earns fifth straight Top 25 ranking
For the fifth straight year, Mississippi State University’s Bagley College of Engineering has been ranked among the Top 25 for online graduate engineering programs by U.S. News and World Report.
The publication listed the Bagley College 24th among the 65 schools ranked for 2017. This year’s ranking follows a seventh-place showing in 2016 and a 20th-place finish in 2015. Bagley was ranked 21st in 2014 and 12th in 2013, the first year that U.S. News and World Report published rankings for online graduate engineering programs.
“This ranking is a terrific reflection of the impressive work done by our distance education faculty and staff,” said Jason Keith, dean of the Bagley College of Engineering. “I’m proud that their efforts are being recognized nationally.”
Three other Mississippi State online programs earned a ranking in the U.S. News and World Report listings, including the Distance MBA program, which was ranked 18th and the Distance Master of Science in Information Systems, which was ranked 43rd. Additionally, the College of Education’s distance graduate program was ranked 84th.
U.S. News and World Report’s rankings are based on a school’s scores in five categories: student engagement, faculty credentials and training, student services and technology, peer reputation, and admissions selectivity. A program’s score is calculated using self-reported data and the results of a peer reputation survey completed by administrators at schools with online degree programs.
Established in 1933, U.S. News and World Report releases annual rankings of universities and individual academic programs from across the country. It first released rankings of online graduate programs in engineering in 2012. To access the complete rankings or find more information about U.S. News and World Report, visit www.usnews.com/online.
