Human-Animal Bond Lecture Series at CVM Thursday

The Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine will host guest speaker Dr. Kurt Venator -- Nestle Purina’s veterinary director -- Thursday [Sept. 8] at 6 p.m. at the Wise Center in Starkville as part of the college’s Human-Animal Bond Lecture Series.

Venator’s presentation, “Pets and People: Better Together” will highlight specific ways the human-animal bond improves lives and well-being. He will present the evolving role of pets around the world, from specialized tasks like sniffing out bombs to providing emotional and psychological support.

“Nestle Purina has supported programs throughout our college that truly enhance people’s relationship with pets,” said Jimmy Kight, director of development at MSU-CVM.

“It is an honor that Dr. Venator and Purina support our programs that facilitate pet adoption and sheltering animals removed from domestic violence situations. Dr. Venator will help us see these programs through an expert’s lens so we better understand the power of the human-animal bond,” he said.

The event is free and open to the entire community.
