Mullen, McCrary earn $35K for charity

Fred McCrary and Dan Mullen

Mississippi State head football coach Dan Mullen and former Bulldog Fred McCrary shot 7-under par to earn $35,000 toward scholarships and charity at the annual Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl Challenge at the Reynolds Lake Oconee Resort outside Atlanta last week.

The duo finished in a tie for sixth place.

Team winnings will be split evenly between endowed scholarships and the charity of each coach's choice. Mullen was representing the Mullen Family 36 Foundation, which gives back to children's charities throughout Mississippi. The foundation raised over $60,000 for charity for Mullen's incredible 26.2-mile Boston Marathon run last month.

The Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl Challenge is the country’s premier head coach and celebrity charity golf event featuring NCAA head coaches and former athletes and celebrities from the same school competing against their rivals for a share of a $540,000 scholarship purse.
