Party marks 138th birthday of Mississippi State
Mississippi State University will commemorate the anniversary of its land-grant founding with a Monday [Feb. 29] birthday party.
Free and open to all, the MSU Alumni Association-coordinated campus celebration will take place from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on the day following the anniversary of the Feb. 28, 1878 official founding. The party, presented by Renasant Bank, will be held in the Dawg House at Colvard Student Union.
The party will begin with the cutting of the featured giant cake. Ice cream and drinks will be served while supplies last. All students, alumni, faculty, staff and friends are welcome to attend. There will be no formal program.
The Alumni Association plays a vital role at Mississippi State, and the annual birthday party is just one of the many ways the organization has a presence in the daily life of the university.
“We proudly salute MSU’s founding each and every February and encourage the entire MSU family to join us,” said Jeff Davis, the association’s executive director. “The birthday party is a great time for campus and the Starkville community to come together and celebrate the founding of our beloved university.”
