Maroon Institute for Writing Excellence sign-up open
The Maroon & Write QEP Office at Mississippi State will offer the Maroon Institute for Writing Excellence (MIWE) in May. The MIWE is designed to introduce writing-to-learn strategies for use in the classroom. During this three-week interactive workshop, participants will receive guidance in revising syllabi and creating relevant writing assignments.
Participants will meet 1-3:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday from May 9-26. All participants will be expected to attend every session and complete assigned readings and writings. Participation in the 2016 MIWE requires faculty to incorporate a formal writing assignment into a class during the 2016-2017 academic year and submit final writing assignments for evaluation by the Maroon & Write staff.
The MIWE is open to all full-time faculty members at the rank of instructor or above who are scheduled to teach undergraduate courses during the 2016-2017 academic year. Registration is limited and preference will be given to faculty teaching a sophomore- or junior-level course that has not traditionally incorporated a writing assignment.
