Covich named assistant men's golf coach
Mississippi State men's golf coach Clay Homan announced July 1 that Sean Covich has joined the Bulldogs as an assistant coach.
Covich comes to Starkville from Meridian Community College where he headed a talented Eagle golf program the past five years. He guided his squads to 18 tournament championships, produced 13 senior college players, six NJCAA National Championship All-Tournament Team members, and seven All-Americans.
During the 2007-08, 2008-09 and 2009-10 seasons, Covich's Eagles posted back-to-back-to-back NJCAA National Championship appearances, including a runner-up finish in 2010. He also coached the program's first individual national champion the same year.
During the 2011 slate, Covich led his team to the program's lowest-round score in school history with a second-round 275 (14-under-par) at the Wallace State Fall Invitational.
Covich lettered at MCC from 1998-2000 and was a member of the 1999 NJCAA Region 23 Championship coached by Lou Weddington Hart.
He completed his education at Mississippi State University, earning his bachelor's degree in sports communication in 2004 and his sports administration master's degree in 2006.

A Meridian native and Lamar School graduate, Covich is married to Kate Keenan Covich.
