Shurden joins International Institute

Meagan Shurden has joined the International Institute at Mississippi State as the director of the Office of International Engagement.
The International Institute is charged with facilitating and expanding international learning, research and outreach efforts at the university. Offices within the institute include International Research Development, International Services, International Relations, International Engagement, English Language Institute and the Study Abroad Office.
The Office of International Engagement’s primary function is to support the institute’s mission through the facilitation of global academic and research partnerships. The unit interacts with MSU departments, colleges, Office of General Counsel, and foreign universities and organizations in developing functioning exchanges through memorandums of understanding and agreement. It also broadcasts current and upcoming international activities, and is the MSU host for the U.S. Department of State’s flagship Fulbright program.
Shurden is an MSU graduate in the Department of Communication with an expertise in public relations. Shurden was recently awarded Accredited in Public Relations (APR) certification by the Universal Accreditation Board. Accreditation sets standards of ethical practice and demonstrates a mastery of the public relations profession.
She serves on the board of the Southern Public Relations Federation, Public Relations Association of Mississippi, and represents the Starkville community as a Greater Starkville Development Partnership Ambassador.
