Mississippi State University's Center for Distance Education recently was recognized for the branding awareness of the center's current Distance@STATE campaign.
The CDE's marketing unit won silver and bronze program awards during the University Professional and Continuing Education Association's recent awards competition. The organization includes universities from across the nation, as well as member institutions from Canada and Mexico.
MSU's awards were for entries in mixed media campaign and outdoor/exhibit signage-trade show exhibits categories. All items entered by MSU in the competition were designed to promote distance education at the university.
Founded in 1915, UPCEA is the leading association for professional, continuing and online education. The Washington, D.C.-based association serves more than 400 institutions, including most of the leading public and private colleges and universities in North America. The association promotes standards of good practice, furthers public awareness in public educational policy, and partners with industry leaders in support for higher education.
MSU staff members who contributed to the development of branding for the ongoing program were Paula Booth, marketing assistant; Vicki Brown, coordinator; Lisa Carraway, office associate; Sally Hester, graphic artist; Christen Mingione, marketing manager; and Tatum Turan, communications specialist.
"It is an incredible thrill to have your peers recognize your work on a national platform," Hester said.
Mingione added, "It is also gratifying to see increasing enrollment in distance education and know that the promotions are working and our distance coordinators' recruitment efforts are paying off."
