Writing excellence workshop taking applications
The Maroon & Write QEP Office at Mississippi State will offer the Maroon Institute for Writing Excellence (MIWE) this June.
The MIWE is designed to introduce writing-to-learn strategies for use in the classroom. During this three-week interactive workshop, participants will receive guidance in revising syllabi and creating relevant writing assignments.
Participants will meet from 1-3:30 p.m. every Monday through Thursday from June 4-25, and must attend all sessions and complete assigned readings and writings. Participation in the 2015 MIWE requires faculty to incorporate a formal writing assignment into a class during the 2015-2016 academic year, and submit final writing assignments for evaluation by the Maroon & Write staff.
The MIWE is open to all full-time faculty members at the rank of instructor and above who are scheduled to teach undergraduate courses during the 2015-2016 academic year. Registration is limited and preference will be given to faculty teaching a sophomore or junior level course that has not traditionally incorporated a writing assignment.
Additional eligibility requirements and expectations of participation are available on the MIWE application. The application is online at www.qep.msstate.edu/pdf/MIWEAPP.pdf
Applications may be mailed or submitted electronically but must be received by March 20.
