Programs rank highly in U.S. News & World Report

Mississippi State University is listed in the 2015 U.S. News & World Report rankings of the nation's online programs, getting especially high marks for online graduate programs in computer information technology, business administration and engineering.

The university's James Worth Bagley College of Engineering ranks No. 20 among the Best Online Graduate Engineering Programs and ranks No. 14 for the Best Online Graduate Computer Information Technology Programs, which includes programs in computer science and electrical and computer engineering.

The university's College of Business is ranked at No. 18 for Best Online Graduate MBA Programs. Additionally, the college's Distance Master of Science in Information Systems program is ranked No. 38 among Best Online Graduate Business Programs (excluding MBA).

"As chief academic officer, I am proud of the rankings of the various MSU programs by U.S. News & World Report. These rankings are quite an accomplishment and a tribute to our fine distance programs," said Jerry Gilbert, provost and executive vice president.

"Our faculty who teach these distance learning programs have gone above and beyond to meet student learning needs with new technologies and tools to reach students across the nation. This demonstrates MSU's commitment to academic excellence," Gilbert added.

For this year's rankings, statistical information was collected during the summer and fall of 2014 during the U.S. News annual statistical survey of online degree programs.

Established in 1933, U.S. News & World Report releases annual rankings of universities and individual academic programs from across the country and is in its fourth year of collecting data from distance education programs. This year, the publication assessed more than 1,200 online degree programs. For the complete rankings or to find more information about U.S. News & World Report, visit www.usnews.com.
