LEDGER: Colleges relieved by funding
Despite dismal projections just months ago, higher education leaders say Mississippi's public universities fared better than expected in the 2011 legislative session.
"There were a lot of ups and downs and a few sleepless nights with a bit of anxiety," Mississippi State University President Mark Keenum said in a recent meeting with faculty. "But at the end of the day, when the dust settled, we fared very well as a university (and) as a system of higher education."
