CASE honors Mississippi State work
The 50th anniversary annual report of the MSU Foundation was recognized nationally for a high level of excellence.
The 50th anniversary annual report of the Mississippi State University Foundation is being recognized for achievements in fundraising communication by an international education support organization.
The marketing and communication team of the MSU Division of Development and Alumni was recently honored by the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) with a 2013 Circle of Excellence Award. The CASE organization hosts entries for Circle of Excellence Awards as its premier international awards program exclusively recognizing the work of its members.
The MSU group won the Grand Gold Award in the Annual Report and Fund Reports Print Category. From 45 entries, the MSU Foundation annual report was the unanimous winner. The winning entry also will be featured in the CASE magazine called Currents in the November/December issue.
"Our team is thrilled to receive this award for our work with the MSU Foundation," said Cathy L. Lammons, executive director of communication and donor relations for Shared Advancement Services. "Many hours of creative planning and research went into the project that became a treasured keepsake for our donors because it commemorates 50 years of organized philanthropy at MSU."
MSU's winning piece was published in February 2012, and showcased the history of the Foundation since its founding in 1962. Narrated by longtime university employee Charles E. Weatherly, the book stepped readers through the five decades of fundraising accomplishments and recognized some of the university's most prestigious benefactors. The vintage design featured Bulldog memorabilia, photographs, and elements taken from the 1913 and 1922 Reveille student yearbooks.
The team responsible for the report besides Lammons included Amy Cagle, Erin Norwood and Sheri Pape with photography by Megan Bean of the MSU Office of University Relations. The team handles all public relations and marketing efforts for the Division of Development and Alumni, which includes the MSU Foundation and the Alumni Association.
A second 2013 CASE Circle of Excellence Award was presented to Mississippi State on behalf of Harriet Laird, associate director of the Office of University Relations.
Laird received a bronze award for District Conference Promotions for the CASE District III "Inspire" Conference. She was one of four co-chairs for District III of which MSU is a member. Fellow chairs were from Duke, Eastern Kentucky and Belhaven universities.
A limited number of copies of the MSU Foundation 50th anniversary publication are still available. Persons interested in obtaining a copy should contact Cagle at 662-325-1006 or email her at acagle@advservices.msstate.edu. The publication may also be viewed online at www.msufoundation.com.
