LEDGER: College Board: Terms up
Mississippi's next governor will name eight of the 12 members of state College Board.
And if re-elected in 2015, he will fill the remaining four spots, giving him a rare chance to handpick the entire board that oversees the state's eight public universities.
"It's one of the most important things that the next governor will be able to do," Mississippi State University President Mark Keenum said of the College Board appointments. "It's an important responsibility that has an impact on the focus -- the philosophy -- of higher education in Mississippi for the long term."
