Cottrell to attend EducationUSA Forum in D.C.

Mississippi State's Stephen Cottrell will participate later this month in the fourth annual EducationUSA Forum in Washington, D.C.
Assistant director of the International Institute and a Fulbright ambassador, Cottrell is among 500 college and university recruitment and admissions professionals attending the June 26-28 event sponsored by the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.
He and other participants will meet with 60 EducationUSA regional educational experts and advisers from around the world to discuss strategies for helping international students to study in the U.S. and U.S. students to study abroad. Authorities on international education will join U.S. higher education representatives and government officials to provide the latest information on recruiting and enrolling international students.
American colleges and universities long have played an important role in strengthening ties with other countries. In addition to helping enhance the U.S. educational system, student exchanges enable higher education institutions to connect future global leaders with the American people. Additionally, foreign student enrollment has a positive impact on the U.S. economy.
Through EducationUSA, the U.S. Department of State supports hundreds of advising centers around the world. Each year, EUSA advisers help provide millions of international students with accurate, comprehensive, and current information about how to apply to colleges and universities in this country.
As part of its major mission, the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs works to promote mutual international understanding through a wide range of academic, cultural, private sector, professional and sports exchange programs.
