Scott Wetherbee
Scott Wetherbee, a veteran athletic administrator with more than 15 years of experience, has been named Mississippi State's Senior Associate Director of Athletics for External Affairs, it was announced May 20.
Wetherbee comes to Mississippi State from East Carolina, where he most recently served as Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing and Ticket Operations. He began at ECU in 2003 after stints at Fresno State (1999-2002) and San Diego State, where he was Assistant AD for Ticket Operations.
A 1997 graduate of Ball State University, Wetherbee will be charged with overseeing the athletic department's marketing and media relations staffs as well as managing the department's relationships with Learfield and adidas. Wethersbee will also coordinate athletic department branding and oversee video production.
"We're excited to welcome Scott to our athletic department's executive team," director of athletics Scott Stricklin said. "He will bring an enthusiasm and attention to detail allowing Mississippi State to continue to be in the forefront of promotion and brand recognition as we continue to create outstanding experiences for our fans."
Wetherbee and his wife Tracy, along with their daughter Taylor, 8, and son Spencer, 5, will move to the Starkville area in June.
"I'm excited to join the Mississippi State family and look forward to beginning the transition," Wetherbee said. "I thank Scott Stricklin and the committee for giving me this opportunity, and I'm looking forward to hitting the ground running."
