ITS deploying enhanced security technology
On the recommendation of the Information Security Committee and approval of the Provost and Executive Vice President, Information Technology Services is deploying a technology known as clean DNS on the Mississippi State University campus network.
Clean DNS will provide additional protection against Internet hackers by checking website addresses against a database of known malicious websites and blocking access to those sites. When access is blocked, the web browser will display a page informing the user.
ITS is currently testing the technology internally. Assuming no unforeseen problems, clean DNS will be deployed in McArthur and Garner Halls on July 23, followed by the MSU wireless network on July 30, and the remainder of the campus network on Aug. 6.
