Athletic Department announces $32 million in gifts
The Mississippi State athletic department received a total of more than $32 million in gifts and pledges through the Bulldog Club during the 2011-12 fiscal year, Mississippi State director of athletics Scott Stricklin announced last Thursday.
This fundraising achievement includes all outright gifts as well as multi-year pledges to the Bulldog Club and its "Today.Tomorrow.Forever" athletic facilities initiative. The total also includes giving associated with seating at Davis Wade Stadium and Humphrey Coliseum.
The $32 million figure marks the second-straight year over $30 million, the only two years in school history over the $20 million mark. Athletic fundraising has risen from $9.2 million in 2007 to $11.6 million in 2008 to $14.9 million in 2009 to $17.4 in 2010. Last year's total of $37.6 included more than $20 million raised for the construction of the Leo Seal, Jr. Football Complex.
"These outstanding numbers are a direct result of the commitment and passion the people of our state have for their university and our athletic department," Stricklin said. "We're thankful to the many who have shown their support through their generosity and we're appreciative of their continued efforts as we continue to provide opportunities and experiences for our student-athletes, fans and alumni."
