Cafe Scientifique hosts Parisi for 'Big Data, Big Picture' talk Tuesday
The monthly meeting of Cafe Scientifique will host Domenico "Mimmo" Parisi on Tuesday, Nov. 27 at 6 p.m. at Bin 612 in the Cotton District.
Parisi, professor of sociology and director of the National Strategic Planning and Analysis Research Center (nSPARC) at Mississippi State, will talk about "Big Data, Big Picture: Using Data to Make a Difference."
Universities are in excellent positions to take advantage of trends in big data, big pictures, and Mississippi State is nationally recognized for leading efforts aimed at improving outcomes in education and economic development. This talk will highlight how MSU has become a leader in the area of big data, big pictures, and how this has helped secure resources for research and scholarship.
Parisi's research expertise is in workforce and economic development, community development, and public welfare policy.
